Hello Insiders,
Tomorrow is a special day for me.
After many years of writing, revising, and reflecting…my novel In Jake’s Shoes will finally be released. It tells the story of a father and son who slowly grow apart after a difficult move to a new town.
The boy, Jake, struggles deeply… but his father believes he’s simply correcting behavior. Instead of connecting… he corrects. Jake begins writing letters to someone he trusts — his grandmother, Gammy Gat- in an effort to make sense of the world and the people around him.
Years later, after Jake is killed during a brief deployment in Afghanistan, his father slips away from family and friends on Christmas Eve and hides in the attic. And there he discovers something he was never meant to see.
Jake’s notebook. Letters written during those difficult years. For hours in that cold attic, he reads them. And slowly discovers a son he never truly knew.
Tomorrow I’ll send one more message when the book officially launches. For now, I just want to say thank you for being part of this journey. It means more than you know.
